Fagan & Whalley Work Anniversaries

After he recently reached his 20-year anniversary of working with Fagan & Whalley, we caught up with Roland Clive to find out a bit more about how things might have changed over the years:

Fagan & Whalley Roland Clive

Roland Clive has worked at Fagan & Whalley for 20 years.

“I was in my thirties when I joined the team at Fagan & Whalley, and I had actually switched jobs, moved home and got married, all within a two-week period!” say Roland. “I was initially working on the night-time shift in the warehouse, which was a lot of hard work, but I enjoyed it, and my wife enjoyed the muscles it gave me!

“After a couple of years in the warehouse, an opportunity came up for me to move into the office and work as a planner. As the working hours were more standard, I decided to accept. I’ve worked in the offices ever since, but my role has shifted over the years, and I’m now a Return Load Coordinator.

“The business has definitely evolved over the years. When I first started, everything was done on paper – baffling to think about now, as our operation is pretty much paperless, and we’ve got all the bells and whistles of tracking systems, an online customer portal, instant proof of delivery, and vehicle telematics. In my time here, I’ve also seen the fleet grow from around 40 vehicles up to what it is now, which has been great to see.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time with Fagan & Whalley, and there’s more time to come too – I’ve not got any plans for retiring anytime soon! I think the main thing I’ve enjoyed has been being surrounded by good people. Everyone helps each other out, and the whole team is always there to provide support and give each other a laugh.

“Fagan & Whalley look after their employees, and it’s a great company to work for. You’re not just another number here, and I think the staff retention stats are a testament to that.”
